My friend Fitz

Fitzie coco,

It's hard to put to words how you feel after you have just buried a dog. Most people never experience it. I have never actually burried a dog in my 40 years. Most people that know me, and if you dont know me, now you know, that I think I love dogs more than I do most people.  So, its a sad day here on the Woodduck because our friend Fitz passed away last night.
We are not even sure why. He wasn't even 2 years old.  If you look at the last blog entry he was the big lap dog in the hammock with me.  He was just a good-natured dude.  Super friendly and he just liked hanging out with you.  When he would see you he would just wag his little tail as fast as he could.
So here is to Fitz......Adios mi amigo

Him lounging around in the morning

just hanging out at the dock trying to find someone to hang out with

What was that???

and up close and personal again

Dear Jake and Cathy, This news makes me sick at heart. I know how you loved Fritz. But you know what? In my opinion, you've never really loved if you've never loved a dog. There is a special joy in knowing a special dog. And what fun you gave each other. Another memory for the box. Big hugs for you both. Mom

Hi Folks.

First my condolences. I've buried 4 pups. At least they had lived good, long lives (I hope when St. Peter gives me the thumb down, the dogs will come to my defense.)

Just discovered your blog. I met Ruth Wharram several decades ago and became an instant fan. We lived aboard a Columbia 26 for 15 years, but never made it out of the US.

Always loved the Pahi 31 and Tiki 26. We just couldn't get beyond the two small cabins, separated by a wide deck, idea. Too much Yankee in us. First winter aboard we were frozen in solid and I have pix of the dog relieving himself on a buoy a quarter mile from land. Still seeing Woodcock ...

Anyway, fair winds and God speed.

Z
