04/08/2005 - Good bye, Mexico

Well, we have had a wonderful stay here in Huatulco, Mexico. We completed our paperwork today and tomorrow we will leave for El Salvador. We are not going to be stopping anywhere along the Guatemala coast (via boat). Instead we have opted to visit Guatemala on an inland trip once we arrive in El Salvador. This way we will avoid having to pay the $100 entry fee into Guatemala and it will be a lot less work. Look for our next email as early as Wednesday, April 13. We are crossing the the Gulf of Tehuantepec which is notorious for gale force winds. Don´t worry though, we have carefully examined the weather and consulted with all the weather forecasters who specialize in this particular crossing and we now have a clear weather window for the next 5 days. We are leaving along with a convoy of other boats who have been awaiting this same weather window. There are going to be at least 8 boats making this critical crossing at the same time so it will be nice to know we won´t be out there alone. Okay, it is time to go sailing! Jake and Cathy,
I finally made it to your site after months of not being able to remember the .info part of your address. Dang, love the pictures and the text postings! Hope your crossing to El Salvador was successful.
I'm in SF this weekend visiting Ryan. We're working on some sort of taco night with a few friends tonight. Tamale making tomorrow. Stop on over!
Keep it real, Rae
